Mesut Özil

In his young career Mesut Özil has already boast some successes. With the A-youth of the FC Schalke 04 he became German champion. On 4 June 2006 Schalke defeated Bayern 2-1 and brought the youth title.

And in the German youth national teams has managed Mesut. First he played in U19, now he belongs to the U21 squad. His Turkish passport, he has made at the consulate because he wants to concentrate fully on the German teams.

Born and raised Mesut Özil is in Gelsenkirchen. There he was at the DJK Westfalia 04 from 1995 and the first steps with the ball, he then moved on DJK Teutonia Schalke-Nord and the DJK Falke Gelsenkirchen Rot-Weiss Essen. In 2005 he returned to Gelsenkirchen and played two and a half years for FC Schalke.

At the Royal Blues, he managed the leap into the first team squad, played in DFB-Kader, UEFA Cup and Champions League. In January 2008, Mesut Özil to SV Werder Bremen. When four-time German champion of the Weser was Mesut the back number 11 - and celebrated in his first full season for Bremen great success.

Just in three finals Mesut stood in the 2008/09 season. The first - in the UEFA Cup was - indeed lost, but the next two were won: the final of the DFB Cup in Berlin and the final of the U21 European Championships in Malmö, Sweden. The success of the national team was doing a historic, because never before had a German U21 won this title. In the final against England was the man of the match Mesut, prepared before two goals and scored one himself.

Here is an interesting fact: Ozil's father Mustafa says his son needs to put on more muscle to become one of the world's best: "We (Ozil's parents) keep Mesut's refrigerator full when we come." For his part, Ozil is keeping track of any weight gain but he is worried any added muscle will slow him down: "I must not build too much muscle," he said.
